Which was weirder: the year 2024 or "A Boy and His Dog" - set in 2024?

In 1975, before cell phones, personal computers, the internet, social media, Miami Vice, and most video games, a sort of kinky, weird, post-apocalyptic movie set in 2024 came out.  It was called A Boy and His Dog, and starred a young Don Johnson.  Working on an unrelated substance post, I just learned that movie was set in 2024.  Well... we didn't have World War III, or World War IV.  Civilization is still around, we didn't live through the end of the world.  But the real world in 2024 was something they couldn't possibly have imagined back in 1975.  Which was crazier?  A Boy and His Dog or real life 2024?  You decide, and let me know on Facebook.  

The year 2024 in review by NBC News.  I'd say the real 2024 was a hell of a lot crazier than a talking dog helping a guy get laid.  Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

"Mindwalk"- One of the two most intelligent movies I've ever seen

Mindwalk, a movie made in 1990.  A poet, a politician, and a scientist walk around the unique island fortress of Mont Saint Michel in France, and talk.  That's it, that's the movie, they walk around and talk.

A Facebook friend in Spain, whom I've never met in person, posted a photo of Mont Saint Michel today.  That reminded me of a movie from 1990, that I first heard of in about 1994.  This is one of the two most intelligent movies I've ever seen, the other being What the Bleep Do We Know?  .  I heard of this movie from this guy, about 15 years after that video was shot.  Bryan Gregory, best known as one of the founding members of The Cramps, was every bit as sarcastic when I worked with him in the mid and late 1990's, but also incredibly intelligent, and still highly creative.  He told me about this movie one day, at work, when we both worked in a porn store.  The movie blew my mind.  I just watched it again, now almost 20 years after I first heard about it.  The ideas expressed in the movie stand up well to the test of time.  

We need to move past stereotypes, like your image of "punk rocker" or whatever came into your mind when I said I worked in a porn store.  I probably had more intelligent conversations at that job than any place I worked.  Really.  And, as Sonja says in the movie, we also need a new way of looking at the world.  If you're a person who thinks, this movie is well worth watching.

The BMX stunt riders for the movie E.T.

The first big movie featuring BMX bikes, E.T., came out in June of 1982.  That's really weird for me, personally, because that's within days of when my family moved to a mobile home park outside of Boise, Idaho, which is where I got into BMX.  I thought the movie came out in the Fall.  

In any case, this early Steven Spielberg movie, featuring an 8 or 9-year-old named Drew Barrymore, as well as C. Thomas Howell, and Bob Haro himself as a stunt rider, was a blockbuster hit, and those E.T. Kuwahara BMX bikes were popular for years afterwards.  I didn't get into BMX because of E.T., But the chase scene was the closest thing to a BMX video we had back then.  

Somebody had this article about the unknown BMX stunt riders, "The BMX Boys of E.T.," linked on Facebook, and this is a part of the E.T. story I had never heard before.  I just read it, and it's really interesting if you're an Old School BMXer.  So check it out.
