Heavy Rebel Weekender 2018 is here...
What happens when you mash-up 90's punk rock with 40's swing? You get Robyn Adele Anderson and posse above. What happens when you mash-up 40's pin-up girl style, 50's rockabilly, mid-20th century hot rod culture, The Cramps' 70's psychobilly, 80's Stray Cats rockabilly revival, '90's punk rock, and 300 years of Southern redneck culture? You get the Heavy Rebel Weekender, the coolest weekend of the year in Winston-Salem*, in my humble opinion. HRW is 18 this year, barely legal and looking for some fun. Here's a look back at previous years...
Here's a few more clips from previous years.
HRW2017 HRW2016 HRW2015 HRW2014 HRW2012
* No disrespect intended to my new friends in the W-S poetry/art scene, but I come from lower middle class/white trash roots and California punk rock culture later on. HRW combines those into a pretty cool (but definitely overly white) weekend.
